Office Closure

February 17, 2025 the Office will be closed for Louis Riel Day.

New Provincial Building, Plumbing, Energy and Fire Codes Coming into Effect January 2024.

The Keystone Planning District is advising all developers, property owners, and residence of both Cornwallis and Elton Municipalities, that the Province of Manitoba will be adopting and enforcing the 2020 editions of the  national model construction codes effective January 1, 2024. Permits Issued after January 1, 2024 will be required to adhere to the new standards.

The updated construction codes include the BuildingPlumbingEnergy, and Fire Code regulations. By adopting and enforcing the new 2020 code, the Province of Manitoba honours its commitments to the Canadian Free Trade Agreement by harmonizing the adoption of national codes.

Keystone Planning District has schedule the Public Hearing for the development plan to take place on July 22, 2024 at 5:00pm in the R.M. of Cornwallis Chambers. We invite all to attend!

DATE & TIME: December 4, 2024 at 9:00 A.M.

GENERAL INTENT OF THE MEETING: To correct map errors that incorrectly designated Principal Settlement Areas. The Corrections are as follows :

  1. Chater (NE 27-10-18) from Rural Settlement Area to Principal Settlement Area
  2. Sprucewoods (SE 12-10-17, NE 12-10-17 & NW 12-10-17 portion north of highway 340.) from Rural Settlement Area to Principal Settlement area
  3. Sprucewoods (SE 13-10-17) from Principal Settlement Area to Rural Settlement Area.
  4. Douglas (NE 3-11-17 & ¼ NW 2-11-17) from Rural Settlement Area to Principal Settlement Area
  5. Justice (SE 12-12-18) from Agricultural Area to Principal Settlement Area

To involve the public in the planning of our community. A notice is also posted in the office of the Keystone Planning District to inform those residents who are not neighbouring property owners about the Public Hearing. What if I have objections?
Objections can be raised in person at the Public Hearing or by submitting written comments to the Keystone Planning District Office at least one week before the date of the hearing – Phone (204) 725-2001; Fax (204)725-3659 or email: [email protected] Please be advised that all correspondence received in conjunction with, or as a result of, an application that requires the Board’s approval becomes public information, therefore personal information [such as names, addresses etc.] contained in the correspondence is released in the public domain.

What happens at the hearing?
At the time and date noted above, the Chair may ask the representative to speak about the Keystone Planning District’s Development Plan and then the board may ask for questions. After that, the Chair will ask if anyone would like to speak for or against the application. When the hearing is concluded, there will be no further opportunity to address the Board.
